The new model-based estimation methodology, called MB3, has advantages over the previous methodology, as described in the Monthly Labor Review article " Model-Based Estimates for the Occupational Employment Statistics program." Estimates for the years 2015-2020 were re-calculated using the new estimation methodology and are available as research estimates. With the May 2021 estimates, the OEWS program now uses a new estimation methodology.May 2021 OEWS occupations with definitions are now available. To improve data quality, OEWS will continue to aggregate some occupations to the 2018 SOC broad occupation level or as OEWS-specific combinations of detailed occupations. With the May 2021 estimates release, OEWS now publishes data for most 2018 SOC detailed occupations. The May 2021 estimates were the first OEWS estimates based solely on survey data collected using the 2018 SOC.
